Host Advantage

Episode eight is here and so is the whole staff. We are back after a “week off” and our energy is at an all time high. Why you ask? Battlefield 1943 is finally available. The debut of this game was explosive (in more ways then one) to say the least. This show earns its mature tag (again) with the amount of F-Bombs dropped by me. There is a running joke the whole episode and the punchline is Treyarch. Also we make an attempt at our first mature discussion based on the need for violence in video games. Join in on the fun and tune into this instant classic.

We take the week off for to celebrate the birthday of America (The 4th of July). We couldn’t go cold turkey so we decided to record a 10 minute minicast. Basically we kill two pigeons with one stone. We still get to reach out to our loyal listeners and we get to test out some new podcasting technology (well new for us) … Skype! Now we can have people “call” into the show for interviews. We leveled up again!

The big game of the week is Fight Night Round 4. Is it a first round knock out or do we have to go to the judges? I bet you thought we was gonna talk about Red Faction this week. Well, we do … but only a little bit. We also discuss Battlefield Heroes and the upcoming games: Battlefield 1943 and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. A bunch of interesting news is discussed involving the Mortal Kombat franchise, a title update for Gears of War and what the most played games have been on the Xbox 360.

The new Ghostbusters game is out and we discuss it in depth. Should you but it? Should you GameFly it? Tune in to the show and find out. We also follow up on the Prototype hype from last week and run down the list of games coming out this week. Fight Night Round 4 is creating quite the buzz around the Host-Advantage.net office. Even one enjoys a good fight, so we reenact the war of words between Activision and Sony. Last but not least we cover late breaking gaming news so you don’t have to surf the internet anymore.

The podcast had accumulated enough XP to level up and chose a new perk. The perk we selected was “Pop Filters and Bonus Mics”. Rock Solid and Mortal discuss this past weeks big release, Prototype. SkricLee and Mortal discuss week three of grinding hard on Red Faction: Guerrilla. We debut a new monthly segments: the NPDs. Want to know the top twenty games that sold in the month of May? That’s what the NPDs are. Plenty of fan boy bait to go around.

A podcast so good we recorded it twice. SkricLee follows up with his ongoing battle with Gamestop. Rock Solid proves he is the master of obscure references. Mortal admits his affection for martian women with unique anatomy. Also we talk about the games we have been playing: Punchout on the Wii, and Red Faction: Guerilla. We pick apart this years E3 and give our feed back on the big announcements from Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, EA and Ubisoft.
