Assasssin’s Creed 2 is the sandbox-style action adventure sequel to Assassin’s Creed. It is set to be released worldwide on November 17, 2009 on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

While not much has been released on the plot yet, it has been confirmed that the player will assume the role of a young noble man turned assassin named Ezio Auditore di Firenze. The main character’s family has been killed and the essence of the plot is to get revenge on the rival families that killed them. Ezio is an ancestor of Desmond Miles, the modern bartender who was captured by Abstergo Industries; as well as being a descendant of his ancestor Altair.

Unlike in the first game, Ezio is shown having dual hidden blades. In addition Ezio is shown having some sort of firearm concealed near his left hidden blade. The game is set to take place in Renaissance Italy in the year 148 (295 years after the first game). Like in the first game, characters based on historical figures will be present. These characters are Leonardo da Vinci, Niccolo, Machiavelli, Caterina Sforza, and Loranzo de Medici.

In addition players will now be able to throw down smoke pellets to aid in the escape from large groups. As well as using the water as a hiding place, the player can use a broader array as cover and can now blend in with the crowd instead of a group of scholars. The player will also become more notorious as more missions are completed, however this infamy can be reduced by bribing, removing wanted posters and assassinating witnesses. A day and night cycle has been added to the game, giving the sense of a passage of time, but certain missions can only be performed during the day and others during the night. The game will also feature the ability to hire services from NPCs. Ezio will be able to steal from any NPC and the NPCs can steal from Ezio.
